Wanna be a star? Paramount+ series 'Lioness' seeks extras for local filming

"Rolling, rolling! Background, having fun!"

A production team shouted over a megaphone at Herring Point in Cape Henlopen State Park in Lewes, Del., Tuesday as they filmed scenes for Paramount+ series "Lioness."

Sound like fun? You might get your chance in front of the camera. According to Facebook posts by Alessi Hartigan Casting calling for extras, "Lioness" will also film in Western Maryland. Alessi Hartigan Casting is looking for extras in the Hagerstown area, with a casting call planned Sunday.

According to its posts, the casting company is looking for both male and female extras, aged 8 to 60 — and needs about "300 fit males to play Marines" — to work in the Fort Ritchie area later in October.

An open casting call will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at the Ramada Plaza at 1718 Underpass Way. The company will be booking roles this day as well as signing up extras. No experience is needed, and all positions are paid.

Filming in Delaware this week

Meanwhile back in Lewes, about 30 extras in swimsuits served as beachgoers Tuesday while two actresses were transported about 50 yards out by jet ski and shot a scene as they treaded water. The actresses then swam back to shore, where they were given robes. They repeated the process at least twice.

Then, over the megaphone: "Nice job, moving onto our next scene!"

A large yacht was anchored just offshore for filming. Production members traversed sandy dunes from the beach to the Herring Point parking lot, where a large white tent had been erected. Also at the top of the parking lot, cameramen filmed from a tower.

Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control police were stationed alongside the two jetties at Herring Point, blocking the public from entering the filming area. Curious locals and visitors walked the drive-on road and doubled back on the beach to get a glimpse of the production.

The upper parking lot at Herring Point was also blocked off to the public. Though the public could use the lower parking lot, it was nearly full of trucks and buses labeled "King Street Productions."

Background:New show from 'Yellowstone' creator to be filmed on Eastern Shore, in Maryland

"Lioness" is being produced by "Yellowstone" creator Taylor Sheridan. It follows "a rough-around-the-edges but passionate young Marine recruited to join the CIA's Lioness Engagement Team to help bring down a terrorist organization from within," according to Paramount.

Zoe Saldaña brings some star power to the production, playing Joe, "the station chief of the Lioness program tasked with training, managing and leading her female undercover operatives."

There was no sign of her in Lewes on Tuesday.
