Wanda Sykes, Seth MacFarlane and more added to McCallum Theatre's 2023-24 season

The McCallum Theatre continues to add more events to its 2023-2024 season and is announcing five additional shows.

They include classical vocalist Matteo Bocelli, the son of prominent Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli, who performed at the theater's 2022 gala, which raised more than $1.5 million for valley-wide theatrical, education and community outreach programs. Seth MacFarlane, the creator of the animated series "Family Guy," and actress Elizabeth Gillies will perform the holiday show "We Wish You the Merriest" on Dec. 5. Stand-up comedians Tom Papa, Brad Williams and Wanda Sykes have also been added.

• Matteo Bocelli: 7 p.m., Dec. 4

Previous additions include Demetri Martin (Oct. 14), Randy Rainbow (Oct. 15) Drew Lynch (Oct. 28) Emo Orchestra Featuring Hawthorne Heights (Nov. 9) and the Disney Pixar film "Coco" performed with a live musical accompaniment on Nov. 14.

Sykes' June performance signals a change for the Palm Desert theater's narrow five-month window season, which usually ends in April.

“Les Misérables” is returning to the McCallum Theatre for the first time since 1993 for eight performances from Nov. 28 to Dec. 3. Other Broadway shows are “The Cher Show” on Nov. 24-26, “Pretty Woman” on Jan. 19-21, “Chicago” on March 1-3 and “Mean Girls” on March 29-31.

For those looking to take in some holiday shows, some regular performers are coming back, including famed singer-songwriter and Palm Springs resident Barry Manilow, who will perform five "A Gift of Love VI" concerts benefitting Coachella Valley nonprofit organizations Dec. 12-13 and 15-17. Merri-Achi Christmas will perform on Dec. 8, jazz saxophonist Dave Koz & Friends will perform on Dec. 18 and Canadian Brass will bring their holiday classics and brass standards on Dec. 19.

Classical music lovers will enjoy shows such as "A Salute to the Music of John Williams" Feb. 2-3 with many of Hollywood's prominent classical musicians that played with Hollywood's "Music Man" on film soundtracks such as "Star Wars," "Indiana Jones," "Schindler's List" and more. Chinese pianist Lang Lang will also perform a solo concert on April 3.
