And you thought the Breaking Bad sequel wasn’t coming until next month. A Walter White lookalike is loose in Illinois and in trouble for possession of methamphetamines.
Todd W. Barrick, Jr., 50, is wanted by the Galesburg, IL police department for violating his parole. The Galesburg P.D. posted his mugshot on their Facebook page, seeking the public’s assistance in tracking him down. The internet leapt into action, inspired to come together as a community to make our streets safer because he looks like a guy on TV.
The comments instantly filled with tips for the police to search for Barrick in car washes, storage centers, and fast food chicken establishments. Some reported seeing the suspect driving a Pontiac Aztec, possibly in the Southwestern United States. Others seemed to take Barrick’s side, offering the name of a lawyer he could call. One almost feels bad for Barrick, who no doubt wanted to violate his parole in peace.
Timing is everything with internet virality, and Barrick might have had a bit more privacy if hungry Breaking Bad fans weren’t gearing up for a return to Vince Gilligan’s world. But even so, Barrick’s resemblance to the character portrayed by Bryan Cranston is uncanny. It’s a great example of life imitating art. Although Walter White may have been based on real life drug dealers, in which case it’s art imitating life, imitating art. Unless Barrick saw Breaking Bad first and then purposefully… You know what? Just don’t do meth.
