Wallace-Dothan student looks to shine on a national stage

(WDHN) — A Wallace Community College-Dothan student is trying to make waves on a national stage.

Miss Alabama Collegiate 2024 Jayla Nix represents all colleges throughout the state of Alabama and in June she will compete in the Miss Collegiate America Pageant in Little Rock, Arkansas,

The purpose of the Miss Collegiate Pageant is to provide personal and professional opportunities for girls currently enrolled in a university, trade school, beauty school, or continuing education program.

Nix says that she has enjoyed the sisterhood and personal development from the pageant circuit and she would be over the moon if she won the national pageant. A title that wouldn’t be possible without the people in her corner.

“It would be a dream come true to be Miss Collegiate America,” Nix said. “With the title comes being an advocate for the national platform B.R.A.V.E, which stands for building respect and values for everyone. The support has been immaculate. I could not ask for a better support system through family, friends, and local businesses.”

The winner of the Miss Collegiate Pageant could earn thousands of dollars in scholarships and the keys to a brand-new Jeep.
