‘Walking Dead’ Ahead: Who Are the Mysterious Garbage People?

We tried to write this episode entirely in Trash People-speak, but even we couldn’t dumb down our language enough to sound like Jadis and her clan. Does huffing garbage give you brain damage? Or are they doing their best to not breathe in any of that stink by keeping speech to a minimum? Either way, my fellow Keyboard Warriors, it’s time for Walking Dead Ahead!

It’s been 10 weeks since we last saw Negan chew scenery and lick lip with all of the panache he possesses, so next episode will have him in spades. Looks like we’re jumping back in time a bit to see when Dwight first discovers that Daryl killed Fat Joey and escaped.

We still don’t know who gave Daryl the key to freedom, but if it was Dwight, he’s putting in quite a performance to convince us otherwise. Negan’s going to make his disciples pay for their mistake with a good ol’-fashioned beating, and somebody, possibly Dwight, is getting the iron. Maybe it’ll make him a bit more symmetrical.

We also catch up with our old friend Eugene. I’m sure he’s been getting along swimmingly with the Saviors crew; they love a Chatty Kathy with an outdated sense of style. I mean, does Negan think he’s one of Danny Zuko’s T-birds from Grease or what?

After some psychological torture that will surely be … fun … to watch, Negan will put Eugene to work making bullets for him. And maybe doing a few magic tricks for his harem.

And that’s probably about it next week. If you were hoping for more of Garbage General Zod and the Kryptonians — who might be but probably (definitely) aren’t the Whisperers from the comics — you’ll have to wait a few weeks, months, or years, because this is Bottle Episode Country!

The Walking Dead airs Sundays at 9 p.m. on AMC.
