‘Walking Dead’ Ahead: ‘Unfinished Business’ in Oceanside

The Walking Dead has been off the air for two months, and in that time the country has gone to pot. Is America striving for an apocalypse because of our shared despair over a world without The Walking Dead? Or has it just been too long since we all heard “Easy Street”?

Spirits should improve after this Sunday’s premiere, unless Negan has anything to say about it. The Bad Man in Charge is surprisingly missing from the trailers, but as we’ve learned from countless headlines, Jeffrey Dean Morgan will be at bat through next season.

These trailers also suggest that the back half of Season 7 will dramatize the forging of alliances between Alexandria and the other survivor communities. The Kingdom seems to be the initial holdout, with Richard passionately pleading with King Ezekiel to get onboard.

Showrunner Scott M. Gimple recently told Entertainment Weekly that there’s also “unfinished business” in Oceanside, the women’s community that Tara stumbled upon in Episode 6. Although Oceanside is barely mentioned in the comics, the civilization may play a big role in this united front against the Saviors. So get pumped for more Tara standalone episodes, Walking Dead fans! Yes!

We’ll also go out on a limb and say these next eight episodes will feature walkers eating people, Carol shooting that shotgun, Daryl doing something cool (because he’s due), and probably everyone but Carl will die. OK, maybe not that last one. … Either way, we’ll see you next week on Walking Dead Ahead!

The Walking Dead returns Sunday, Feb. 12, at 9 p.m. on AMC.
