Waka Flocka Challenges Donald Trump To Abolish Columbus Day: “This Holiday Is A Spit In Our Faces”

Waka Flocka has challenged Donald Trump to “abolish” Columbus Day, the national holiday honoring the famed explorer Christopher Columbus.

The rapper took to social media on Sunday (Jan. 22) and publicly called for the former U.S. President to put an end to Columbus Day for good, deeming it as disrespectful towards Black people.

“Dear Trump abolish Christopher Columbus Day,” the Atlanta rep began. “As a what’s called Blackman in United States this holiday is a spit in our faces… Thanks from Waka Flocka Flame and the People!!!”

While Waka is far from the first Hip-Hop artist to voice their disdain for Columbus and question him being celebrated with a holiday in his honor, his decision to reach out to Trump left fans perplexed, given the fact that Trump currently doesn’t possess the power to enact such a change.

Also, as Columbus Day falls on October 12, the timing of Waka’s request came off as a bit peculiar to some, as we’re currently more than three months removed from the previous holiday.

Waka Flocka’s decision to address Donald Trump as opposed to current U.S. President Joe Biden marks a growing trend among rap artists, some of whom have voiced their preference of having Trump in office rather than Biden.

Last year, Sexyy Red spoke glowingly of Trump, noting the stimulus checks that were given out by the government during the COVID-19 pandemic. “I like Trump,” the St. Louis native said during an appearance on the Theo Von Podcast. “Yeah, they support him in the hood. At first I don’t think people was f**king with him. They thought he was racist, saying little sh*t against women. But once he started getting Black people out of jail and giving people that free money.”

“Awe, baby, we love Trump. We need him back in office. We need him back, because, baby, them checks. Ooh yes, them stimulus checks. Trump, we miss you. I love Trump, he funny to me. I used to watch him talking to people. He used to be calling people fat. He just bold. He funny. We need people like him,” she continued.

Donald Trump is running for President of the United States for the third time and will likely face off against Presidential incumbent Joe Biden in the 2024 Presidential election.
