Wait, There Are Multiple Secret Post-Credit Scenes in ‘Lightyear’ and You Shouldn’t Miss Them
It’s time to go to infinity and beyond! Lightyear, the latest Disney/Pixar movie, is giving us the lowdown on the real Buzz Lightyear that inspired Andy to get his iconic toy in the original Toy Story film. And while it’s not a Marvel film, fans are still wondering if they have to wait until the credits are all done for any ~special surprises~. After all, the Toy Story franchise and Marvel are both under Disney. So…should you stick around after the film ends?
Here is everything you need to know about the (multiple!) post-credit scenes in Lightyear.
Are there any post-credit scenes in Lightyear?
Yes, absolutely! In fact, you’re going to want to stay until the very end, and we mean literally until the lights come up and the screen turns completely black. While most films might have one or two post-credit scenes, Lightyear actually has three (!!), and its last one is the most important, so you definitely don’t want to miss it.
When do these three post-credit scenes happen? Tell me without spoilers!
Okay, so the first one happens after the initial animated credits and features that iconic laser shield. The second one is after the end credits and stars one of our new favorite robots, ERIC. And the third one is all the way at the very, very end, like when you think you should leave…but you really shouldn’t. You’ll notice it starting when it looks like we’re back in space again. This is the big one because it hints at something huge.
Oops, I missed them. What happens in the Lightyear post-credit scenes?
Just a warning, if you haven’t seen the movie yet, there are major spoilers below. Don’t say we didn’t warn you!
In the first post-credit scene, Commander Burnside is having tea in his office. The laser shield can be seen behind him, and a bug tries to cross it. Unfortunately for the bug, it immediately gets zapped, which makes Burnside happy because it proves that the shield works.
The second post-credit scene takes us back to ERIC as he continues to give directions to the group—the only thing is, they are all gone and have been for some time.
The final (and biggest) scene shows Zurg back out in space. Just when Buzz and the gang thought he was gone for good after the explosion on the ship, his mask starts to light up again, showing he is very much still alive. And considering the fact that this is still Buzz from the future and he wasn’t excited to see his ship destroyed, he’ll likely try to get his revenge on the brand-new Space Rangers as soon as he can.
Wait, does this mean we’re getting a Lightyear sequel??
TBD! It sure looks like Pixar might be interested in another film if this one does well enough. But since it only just came out and Disney/Pixar has yet to announce anything, we’ll have to wait for Lightyear sequel news in the future.
