Wait, Kelly Ripa and Her Family Have Been Quarantined in the Caribbean This Entire Time?!

For the past few months, we’ve all been watching Kelly Ripa host Live with Kelly and Ryan from home… or at least we thought she was at her New York City home. But in a surprise pandemic twist, it has been revealed that all of Ripa’s virtual hosting has reportedly been taking place from a “secret” locale in the Caribbean! Can you feel the FOMO?

Being confined to any one place isn’t ideal, but a tropical getaway sounds about as ideal as you can get. While Ripa’s quarantine location does come as a surprise, what does not is the fact it wasn’t exactly planned. As reported by Page Six, a source close to the family has confirmed she, husband Mark Consuelos and the couple’s three kids — Michael, 22, Lola, 18, and Joaquin, 17 — were vacationing at a Caribbean island getaway when shelter-in-place orders hit in March. So, per the source, they decided as a family that they would hunker down. Meanwhile, friends have been staying at their New York City home in their absence.

Despite their no-doubt dreamy surroundings, though, the quarantine has still understandably been difficult. For Ripa, continuing Live has helped. “Kelly’s been a good soldier, as she always has been,” said the source. “It’s important to her to keep working — and it was important to her and Mark to donate to pandemic relief.” In March, the couple donated $1 million to coronavirus relief efforts.

Work hasn’t been the only welcome distraction for Ripa. In fact, the family has had cause for celebration this week as their eldest child Michael graduated from NYU.

On Thursday evening, the proud mom posted a photo of Michael in his graduation cap sandwiched between her and Consuelos. “And just like that you graduated college. MJC, the joy and pride you have brought our family is indescribable. I love you with all my heart,” she wrote. Ripa threw in several throwback photos of her college grad for good measure and, wow, does he look like his famous dad.

It stands to reason that the family would normally toast Michael’s major milestone at a traditional graduation ceremony and perhaps a graduation party (or three). But at least they’re able to safely celebrate together — somewhere that feels like a graduation vacation destination, no less.
