WAA announces October Artists of the Month
Nov. 4—The Weatherford Art Association announced the winners of Artists of the Month at the Oct. 23 meeting.
Each month, WAA members can compete for first, second and third place ribbons and the opportunity to showcase their artwork at local Weatherford banks and The Doss Heritage and Culture Center.
First place was awarded to artist Patricia Harder for her watercolor painting, "Coastline." Inspired by her daughter's vacation adventures, Harder focuses on the difficult task of capturing the motion of waves against a rocky coastline, framed by a rose-tinged sky. This watercolor and other artworks by Harder will be featured at The Doss Heritage and Culture Center through November.
Second place went to Randy Loyer. His oil painting "Fox" was inspired by a neighbor's request and was a chance for him to focus on the challenge of painting animals and the texture of their fur.
Loyer commented, "I really appreciate the advice and pointers shared by other WAA artists." Weatherford Art Association invites you to view his painting on display during November at First Bank Texas in downtown Weatherford.
Third place honors were awarded to Linda Hidalgo for her oil painting, "Flowers." Hidalgo produced this painting with a technique she has mastered called acrylic pouring.
"I really like how this painting oriented itself vertically and the balance of colors is unique," she said. "I hope to always create unique paintings."
You can view her work during November at the Fort Worth Community Credit Union on South Main Street in Weatherford.
As part of its mission as a non-profit 501©(3), the Weatherford Art Association provides monthly demonstrations to increase the knowledge of members and support arts education for the community. Meetings are held at 125 S. Waco St. off the square in Weatherford from 6 to 7:45 p.m. on the fourth Monday of each month.
