Ripley & Co. will star in Little Golden Book's "A is for Alien: An ABC Book," which will teach young readers the alphabet with illustrations of horrifying sci-fi creatures.

In space, no one can hear you scream for mommy.

Penguin Random House is publishing A is for Alien: An ABC Book, a new Little Golden Book title based on Ridley Scott’s 1979 sci-fi horror classic Alien. The picture book will teach young readers the alphabet with illustrations of Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) and her companions on the Nostromo.

The book is currently available for pre-order, and is set to release on July 9, 2024. We’re expecting to see pages like “X is for Xenomorph,” “C is for Chestburster,” and “H is for Humanoid robot full of disgusting milky fluid.”

Other movie franchises have gotten the Little Golden Book treatment in the past, including Star Wars, Ghostbusters, and the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but none of them have been so squarely aimed at adults as Alien is.

Disney acquired 20th Century Fox (now 20th Century Studios), the home of the Alien franchise, in 2019, and has big plans for the series for its 45th anniversary next year. In addition to the Little Golden Book, we’ll also get Alien: Romulus, the first cinematic entry since 2017’s Alien: Covenant. The film stars Priscilla’s Cailee Spaeny and is directed by Don’t Breathe’s Fede Álvarez, who said that Ridley Scott thinks the movie is “f---ing great.” The film releases on Aug. 16, 2024.

FX on Hulu will also release the first-ever live-action Alien television series soon, though creator Noah Hawley (Fargo) recently said that the show probably won’t premiere until the first half of 2025.
