You Can Help Decide Taco Bell's Next Menu ItemTaco Bell

Taco Bell is giving fans some power when it comes to adding a former item back to the menu. The chain will soon add a customer favorite to its menu for a limited time, but this time around Taco Bell is letting us vote on which menu item will come back. Fans will be able to choose between two throwback icons: the Double Decker Taco or the Enchirito.

Rewards members will be able to vote exclusively through the Taco Bell app daily, from now through October 6.

The Enchirito dates all the way back to 1970 and is made up of a soft flour tortilla, loaded with seasoned beef, beans, and diced onions. Once the tortilla is rolled up, it's smothered with a classic red sauce and topped with melted shredded cheddar cheese. The Enchirito departed the menu in 2013, so if it's voted in, it would be a return nearly a decade in the making.

The Double Decker Taco was first introduced as a limited-time offering in 1995. Described as a "hybrid taco," it became a permanent menu item in June 2006, but was later discontinued in 2019.

The move to let fans vote on the next item to return to the Taco Bell menu serves as yet another way to "empower" those loyal to the restaurant, according to Sean Tresvant, Taco Bell's Chief Brand Officer.

“On the heels of the love and passion we saw for Mexican Pizza, we wanted to continue elevating the voices of our most loyal fans by giving them exclusive access to a uniquely digital experience that fosters brand love,” said Tresvant. “Nobody gets Taco Bell more than our community so we’re thrilled to empower them with this in-app voting experience that allows them to have a direct impact on our menu.”
