DCA's Anaya Dawson returns to capture girls athlete of the week; Trent Young named top boys athlete

Donelson Christian Academy's Anaya Dawson was named the Tennessean girls athlete of the week while Eagleville baseball's Trent Young was named the boys top athlete after voting concluded Thursday.

After finishing third in last week's athlete of the week poll, Dawson captured 44,711 votes this week, for 45.5% of the girls' total (98,247), to capture the award. She beat out Friendship Christian's Charley Clark (36,204) and Stewarts Creek's Samya Sandifer (6,667).

Dawson had a home run, triple and four RBIs as DCA cruised to a 10-2 win over Davidson Academy last Wednesday.

Young claimed the top honor after collecting 54,114 votes for 40.7% of the boys' total (132,731). He edged out Father Ryan track star Drake Carlson who finished second with 48,679 votes and Stewarts Creek's Aiden Schwartz who finished with 18,428 votes.

Young was a perfect 4-for-4 with a double, three runs and three RBIs in a 12-7 win over Hixson last Saturday.
