It’s almost time to crown another champion on The Voice!

Since its inaugural season in 2011, the NBC singing competition show has spawned two dozen winners, including Cassadee Pope, Danielle Bradbery and Brynn Cartelli.

Though the rules have changed over the years, several aspects of The Voice have remained the same, like the blind auditions. Before the live shows, the panel of coaches listen to a series of auditions but with a twist — they can’t see the performers, they can only hear them.

If a coach is interested in the singer, they press a button and turn their red chairs around for the performer. If more than one coach is intrigued, the singer gets their pick, but if no coaches press their button, the prospective contestant is eliminated from the competition.

After the teams are formed, the contestants go through a series of performances over the course of several weeks, including the battle rounds, knockouts and playoffs. In addition to votes from viewers, coaches can utilize blocks, saves and steals to keep singers on their teams or add artists.

When a winner is crowned, they are awarded $100,000 and a record deal with Universal Music Group.

Season 25 of The Voice brought together John Legend, Reba McEntire, Chance the Rapper and first-time coaches Dan + Shay. Legend, McEntire and the country duo each had artists that will compete for the crown on May 20: Asher HaVon, Josh Sanders, Karen Waldrup, Nathan Chester and Bryan Olesen.

Before the final performances, here’s everything to know about how to vote on The Voice, including what time entries begin and the different methods to try.

Voting for contestants on The Voice happens after the singers’ performances in an overnight vote between Monday and Tuesday.

Fans can vote for their favorite performer on the show’s website and are limited to one vote per email address for each voting method.

The overnight vote begins at 8 p.m. ET after the show and ends at 7 a.m. ET the following day.

In addition to voting directly on The Voice’s website, fans can also show their support for their favorite performer on The Voice Official App, available on iOS and Android.

The app allows users to watch videos of contestants’ performances, learn more about the competing artists, build a “fantasy team” of performers, pick the winners for the battle and knockout rounds, as well as vote for and save their favorite singers.

The Voice introduced the instant save during season 5 in 2013.

At the time, the instant save was calculated based on social media engagement. Every week after the bottom three contestants were announced, viewers could save one contestant from elimination by posting a message on X (formerly Twitter) for their favorite artist alongside the hashtag #VoiceSave. The winner of the social media tally was then announced five minutes later live on-air.

Today, voting for the instant save on The Voice follows the same rules as voting on the show — via the website or the app.

Only one instant save artist has gone on to win the singing competition: In December 2022, during season 22, Shelton’s artist Bryce Leatherwood took home the crown.

The Voice season 25 finalists include Asher HaVon and Josh Sanders from Team Reba, Karen Waldrup from Team Dan + Shay, Nathan Chester and Bryan Olesen from Team John.

After the live semi-final results, Asher and Josh spoke to PEOPLE, revealing their "secret weapon" to making it to the last round of the singing competition.

"Always being the fullest version of myself when it comes to showing up,” Asher explained. “A secret that is so loud yet can be looked over all the time."

Sanders said he has had “so many musical influences” in his life, explaining, “I drink from many musical wells. I've got a tone that is kind of my own, and I think that might be to my advantage."

Dan + Shay’s artist Karen opened up about the importance of family in her journey, sharing that she would call her mom after each performance. In addition to her “superwoman” mom, Karen cited her husband, Cody Henson, as her support system, explaining, “He just lets me shine.”

As for Nathan on Team John, the contestant expressed his gratitude toward his coach, especially when it came to his song choices throughout the competition.

Nathan explained, “He's guided me with a lot of notes and mentorship vocally. So I think he's been the secret potion for me that has allowed me to make it to this step.”

"I don't think I'd still be here if I wasn't on John's team,” Bryan added. “And just his words, there's many words that weren't on camera. His words of affirmation — they've built me up in a certain way that have been just wonderful."
