Volunteer Search & Recovery Team Locates Missing Teenager’s Remains In California Reservoir

The disappearance of 16-year-old Kiely Rodni in August 2022 made national headlines and was investigated as a possible abduction. An intensive search for the teen came to an end after Adventures with Purpose (AWP), an Oregon-based volunteer search and recovery dive team, found Kylie’s car in Nevada County, California’s Prosser Creek Reservoir, in 14 feet of water. Her body was still inside. “This is as devastating as it gets,” says AWP’s lead diver, Doug Bishop. AWP founder Jared Leisek says his team has recovered around 500 vehicles and the remains of 24 deceased individuals since they began volunteering their services in 2019. The group also runs a YouTube channel where they chronicle their search and recovery efforts. Watch the video above to see how the Adventures with Purpose team conducted their search for Kiely Rodni. Then, hear Bishop’s response when Dr. Phil asks what goes through his mind when he locates a victim’s remains. This episode of Dr. Phil, “Citizen Sleuths,” airs Monday.
