'The Voice': After shocking Top 5 reveal, Blake Shelton's team has advantage going into finale

Spoiler alert: This story contains details from the May 12 episode of NBC's "The Voice."

The final five is set on "The Voice."

The Top 9 singers were whittled down during the NBC singing competition's second remote elimination show Tuesday, marking the first time five singers will compete in the finale.

The judges appeared via video from their quarantine safe havens, while host Carson Daly appeared from the show's empty soundstage. A fresh-faced Kelly Clarkson tuned in from Montana. Blake Shelton called in from Oklahoma and John Legend and Nick Jonas appeared from Los Angeles.

"There’s pros and cons" to virtual coaching, Clarkson revealed. "It’s awesome because you are getting to meet more of their family, just more of who they are and where they come from. You are in their house and you see pictures on their walls. … We never get that."

But, Clarkson added that singing "big, huge, dynamic songs can be hard to pull off" remotely.

America's saves

From each team, the artist with the highest viewer vote total after Monday's performance show got the green light.

The singers were surrounded by their families from their homes around the country as the results were delivered by Daly.

From Team Clarkson, Micah Iverson instantly moved on.

Thunderstorm Artis from Team Jonas and CammWess from Team Legend advanced.

The public vote also saved Team Shelton's Todd Tilghman.

Instant Save

The remaining five singers – Megan Danielle (Team Clarkson), Allegra Miles (Team Jonas), Zan Fiskum (Team Legend), Toneisha Harris and Joanna Serenko (both from Team Shelton) – went head-to-head for the last spot in the finale.

So it would be a battle of the ladies.

Danielle, in Georgia, brought her signature rasp to Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Simple Man." Clarkson said her team member "moves me every time you open your mouth" and that she feels "such a connection" with Danielle.

Miles sang Shawn Mendes' "In My Blood" from his home in Florida. Jonas said he's been "wowed and blown away" by her voice since the Blind Auditions, adding she "knocked it out of the park" tonight.

Fiskum sang Lady Gaga's "Always Remember Us This Way" from Washington. Legend said she "consistently stood out to me" and thinks Fiskum deserved to be in the finale.

Next up was Serenko, who is no stranger to an Instant Save. Last week, she beat out three other singers to win the wild card sing-off and the last spot in the Top 9.

This week, she sang Dennis Lorenzo & Allen Stone's "Unaware" from her home in Missouri. Shelton said: "Last week, America wasn’t willing to let you go home because you are so special," predicting they would save her once again.

Harris closed out the show from Georgia with her breathtaking vocals on Minnie Riperton's "Lovin' You." Shelton said she has infinite "levels and so many tools in her toolbox."

But determining the winner was not up to the coaches. Viewers had the power to decide during a flash round of voting.

In the end, Harris advanced.

Eliminations

Danielle, Miles, Fiskum and Serenko were eliminated after failing to clinch the Instant Save.
