It was Hometown Night on The Voice on Monday, May 13, and Jupiter's support of contestant Serenity Arce was fervent.

Even her third-grader brother got on the bandwagon displaying a sign for her shown on TV.

"We've had tremendous support from all of Jupiter," said Arce, who attends Jupiter High School.

But despite Jupiter 's support, Arce, 17, had to go home after making it to the semifinals as one of nine singers. Viewers instead of coaches make the choices from the live performances. Four singers are left and are scheduled to perform Monday, May 20, to vie for a recording contract and $100,000. The winner will be chosen the next night.

Arce had auditioned for The Voice in 2021 at age 14, but none of the judges chose her for their teams. She did manage to walk away with good advice from two of them — Blake Shelton and fellow Palm Beach County resident Ariana Grande — who told her to practice more and come back.

She sang one of Grande's songs on Monday in her attempt to move forward — "we can't be friends (wait for your love)."

Afterward, as Arce heard from the judges, she wiped tears from her eyes.

"You're a winner," said country music legend Reba McEntire.

Arce performed one more time on Tuesday in a sudden-death competition with four other singers — all the bottom vote getters — for one last chance to reach the finals. The song was "Because of You," famously recorded by Kelly Clarkson, who judged for nine seasons on The Voice.

"Bravo," said Chance the Rapper after Monday's performance. "You're doing everything you're supposed to do the right way. I'm just honored to be your coach."

Another Palm Beach County singer made it almost as far as Arce.

Nadège, 26, who claims Wellington as her hometown, was eliminated one step shy of the semifinals.
