9:00 p.m. – “Previously on ‘The Voice’!” In episode 7, the battles premiered. On Team Reba Tae Lewis defeated L. Rodgers, but Reba gave L. her Playoff Pass, so both remain. Next, Asher HaVon defeated Alyssa Crosby, but Chance used his steal and brought Alyssa over to his team. On Team Chance Kamalei Kawa defeated and eliminated Gabriel Goes. On Team Dan + Shay Karen Waldrup defeated and eliminated Ryan Argast. On Team Legend Nathan Chester defeated Bryan Olesen, but John gave Bryan his Playoff Pass, so both remain. Zoe Levert defeated and eliminated OK3. Let’s continue the battles!

9:02 p.m. – Starting off the night were Dan + Shay as they coached brothers Justin and Jeremy Garcia and Frank Garcia through rehearsals of the song “A Million Reasons.” The guys paired these artists because they see them as their “pop emotional singers.” Dan let Justin and Jeremy that they got “a little bit misdirected” at the end of the song and were much stronger at the front end. Shay was really drawn into the warmth of Frank’s voice overall.

9:09 p.m. – After their performance, John was impressed with Frank’s vibrato and liked how in sync Justin and Jeremy were. Reba couldn’t believe there was “so much talent on stage under the age of 20.” She also thought that the brothers played off of each other well as singers. Chance liked the performance so much that he advised Dan + Shay to use their playoff pass on the acts so that he can choose them both. Shay thought both artists “really stepped up” and Frank has “undeniable” talent. In the end, Dan declared that their choice for winner of the battle was Frank because they see him as “full package.” After telling the guys that she would have picked Justin and Jeremy, Reba decided to use her steal to bring them over to her team.

9:20 p.m. – Reba went right along into her own battle featuring a new duet of “Just Give Me a Reason” from William Alexander and Zeya Raye. In the rehearsal stage, Reba stressed that they must “hone in on the audience” because the biggest aspect of a successful performance is the emotion. Once she had them turn into each other to sing she liked it “much better.”

9:30 p.m. – Chance provided the commentary that he would have stolen William if he still had one to use, but gave Zeya props as well. Shay thought William could “open up more vocally” because of his age and Dan thought the song was more in Zeya’s range. John agreed that William was “trying to find [his] way around the melody” and liked his choices, but Zeya is the one that gave the “flawless” performance. Reba thought they were both “incredible,” but her decision came down to Zeya because of the “maturity and warmth” in her voice.

9:40 p.m. – Team Chance brought together Maddi Jane and Nadège for their take on “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You” in the hopes that they’d breathe new life into it. He let them know that because of their big personalities and charisma, he wanted to talk about their plans for using the stage. He said that the battles are about creating “memorable moments” and showed them how not to distract from their battle pair while also focusing on the audience and each other.

9:51 p.m. – Following their performance, Dan said they “both have what it takes” to go far and the show and think their tones are “special.” Shay agreed that they “commanded attention.” John reminded everyone that he fought for both of them in the blinds and he’s “jealous” now. He liked Maddi’s “melodic choices” because of the “superstar swagger” while Nadège made choices he wouldn’t have thought of, but loved. He said he can’t wait to steal one of them. Chance told them that he felt “fulfilled” because of Nadège’s “earnest” approach and her “knowledge of music.” He also noted Maddi’s “amazing vocal strength” and her superstate persona. His winner to move on to knockouts was Maddi because she’s “obviously a star.” That left Nadège up for a potential steal which John went in for as did Dan + Shay, but Chance wasn’t going to let them have a chance because he used his playoff pass to keep Nadège on his own team and send her straight to the playoffs.
