8:00 p.m. – “Previously on ‘The Voice’!” In episode 4, the coaches continued to build their teams with the fourth set of blind auditions. Joining Team Reba were Ms. Monét and Rachele Nguyen. Joining Team Niall were Laura Williams and Lvndr. Joining Team Gwen were Jason ArcillaBias and Jacquie Roar. Joining Team Legend was Kaylee Shimizu. Let’s see what Night 5 has to offer!

8:02 p.m. – For the first audition of the night, Lila Forde sang “Can’t Find My Way Home” and caught the attention of Gwen and John right away. Reba and Niall hit their buttons shortly after, extending the coaches’ fervor for four chair turns this season. Niall told Lila that the song was the perfect selection for her and that she looked comfortable on stage playing the keys. Gwen was very passionate about Lila, calling her a “singer songwriter with a true point of view that’s original, unique, that’s not trying to be like anyone else” that they need in music.  John said he heard “wisdom” in her voice because of her attention to nuance and it being “under control.” Reba recognized Lila’s maturity in the way she played. When he found out that Lila works gigging through LA, he said that he can sense the “resilience” that it built in her as a performer. It didn’t seem like a hard decision for Lila to choose to join Team Legend.

8:12 p.m. – Coming all the way from Dubai, 17 year old Angelina Nazarian sees all the access to different cultures that she’s experienced in life as a pathway to embracing her music better. Her version of “The Trouble with Love Is” impressed Niall early, but took a little longer for Reba to throw her hat in the ring for a head-to-head. Niall noted the “control” and “power” that she has in her voice because it’s like nothing on his team already. Reba called her voice “gorgeous” and then used her own performance history to sway Angelina in her direction. Niall countered by reminding her that he won with a female vocalist her age and that he also competed on a show at that age. In the end, Angelina surprised the room by choosing Reba as her coach.

8:24 p.m. – 19 year old Tanner Massey grew up singing with his family and in front of other people from a very young age, including as a member of the group Acapop! KIDS. Tanner was hoping that “Before You Go” would be the song to impress any of the coaches, but especially Niall. When it looked as though none of them might turn Reba, Gwen and Niall all hit their buttons. Niall said he noticed all his nerves, but he works well with that and won with an artist that was incredibly nervous at first. Reba used the Oklahoma connection and the fact that she was first to turn around in her pitch for Tanner. Gwen loved the tone in his voice and said that “the dream is so alive” in him. As he wanted, Tanner was able to join Team Niall.

8:35 p.m.Ange described his love for reptiles and the injury that ended his basketball career before taking the stage with “Heaven.” Unfortunately his path forward was not going to be as a member of this season. Gwen told him that he started off strong, but then it got “inconsistent” and he just needs more time to learn his voice better.

8:40 p.m. – Singing since she was four, Jarae Womack grew up being told that music is a part of her lineage. She comes to the show after putting her music career on pause for the birth of her son, performing “Back to Black” in his honor. As soon as the chorus hit, Jarae got a chair turn from all four of the coaches. Niall called it impressive that she made such a “character” song her own. Reba admitted to not being familiar with the song, but said that Jarae has a “quality, round tone” in her voice. John said that Jarae has soul in her voice because it’s “authentic and true and passionate.” Gwen liked that she used her voice to tell the story and the “breathiness, the rasp.” Once again, the four chair turn went in John’s direction and Team Legend added Jarae to their roster.

8:57 p.m. – The next artist to perform for the chance to join a team was Brandon Montel with “Hard Place.” This time Reba was the first to hit her button, pressing the block against John as she had been planning for some time. After, all three of the other coaches turned their chairs, making it an official four chair turn for Brandon, but with John out of contention to bring him to his team. John told Brandon that if there’s a steal opportunity, he will want to pick him. Niall said he’s been waiting for someone like Brandon to add to his team. Reba made it clear that she saved her block for a special singer and he’d be unique on her team. Gwen called the performance “gorgeous” and “beautiful,” emphasizing how much she’s bounced around in her career. With John off the table, Brandon became the newest member of Team Gwen.

9:10 p.m. – Growing up in a single parent household and blind in one eye, Peter Pinnock was comforted as a kid by music through singing and dance. His choice of “Your Man” as a song was a surprise to the coaches when their chairs finally turned around once he was done. Gwen explained that he needs to open up his voice to make it more warm. John added that it didn’t feel connected because he speaks in a different accent than he sings. Niall said he should have chosen a different song in order to show his normal blend of country with R&B.

9:20 p.m. – 37 year old Al Boogie returned for his second attempt at making the cast after failing to get a chair turn during season 23. This time he performed “Pickup Man” and caught the attention of Reba in the last moments for an auto-add to her team. Reba called herself a “big fan already” and Niall called them a “match made in heaven,” but suggested he add more grit to his vocals.

9:27 p.m. – We also saw clips of Reba nabbing Crystal Nicole to her team after “Only Girl (In the World)” because of her “strong” and “powerful” voice.

9:32 p.m. – As a self-described “shy person,” Elizabeth Evans was happy to begin her performance of “All I Wanted” without the coaches’ eyes on her. That didn’t last long once John and Reba turned their chairs. Reba said she was surprised to see a powerful voice come out of someone so tiny and promised to help her learn how to better communicate to her audience as she performs. John called her voice “cool” and said it was the big note that pulled him in, but he’ll help her with the planning of her vocals in order to make them work better. Between the two choices, Elizabeth joined Team Legend.

9:42 p.m. – Australian vocalist by way of Nashville, Jordan Grace says he is the song of the “Johnny Cash of Australia” and so he grew up surrounded by country music. He performed “Let Her Go” while playing his guitar, delivering a slow burner that the coaches could consider as an addition to their teams. Unfortunately this was another artist that the coaches just didn’t fall for. Niall explained that he needed to hear more range in order for him to work in the competition. John added that the song went through the same melody throughout and he needed something else in order to be intrigued enough.

9:53 p.m. – The next international artist to take the stage was Nini Iris from the country of Georgia though she resides in Brooklyn now. Her rendition of “I See Red” became the 15th four chair turn of the season with quick turns from Gwen, Niall, John, and last Reba. Nini promised to “fight hard,” calling it the “best vocal of the day” and her a “proper rock singer” as well as “potential winner.” Reba called her voice “spectacular” and said she has great stage presence. John called it “fantastic to witness” because of the “nuance and subtle tone” in her “soulful rock.” Gwen was impressed that she “flipped so easily” through different styles of her voice and that she’s already ready for the competition. Niall worked really hard, pleading for Nini to join his team, and that’s exactly what she did.
