'The Voice': Nick Jonas finally uses his steal; first-ever Four-Way Knockout debuts

Spoiler alert! This story contains details from the April 20 episode of "The Voice."

Nick Jonas is close to his dream team after finally using his steal.

After trying (and failing) to swipe two eliminated contestants during last week's Knockouts, Jonas used his only steal to land a coveted four-chair-turn.

He claims it was his master plan all along.

"Being rejected twice is really good for my confidence," Jonas joked before stealing Thunderstorm Artis from John Legend.

Artis sang Legend's "Preach" during a head-to-head Knockout with fellow four-chair singer Mandi Castillo, who performed a rendition of Ben E. King's "Stand By Me."

"I have a reputation of being hard on people doing my songs," Legend said to Artis before deeming Castillo the winner.

Jonas could hardly contain his excitement and quickly hit his steal button.

"I had my eye on (Artis) from the beginning and I’m maybe the luckiest man in the world for having pulled this off," Jonas said. "There was a few disappointments along the way, but what no one knew is that it was all a game plan so they would use up all their steals and I would be able to steal Thunderstorm away."

Jonas' power play left Kelly Clarkson with the only steal left in the Knockouts.

"I’m really just waiting for that perfect performance that just moves me," Clarkson said. "And I do have my eye on someone."

The fireworks came for Clarkson during a Rihanna showdown between Team Jonas' Toneisha Harris ("Diamonds") and Cedrice ("Love on the Brain").

Jonas selected Harris as the winner, leaving Cedrice on the brink of elimination again. Just like when Blake Shelton stole Cedrice from Legend in the Battles Round, Clarkson stole her from Legend in the Knockouts.

"I had to steal Cedrice because there’s no one like her on the show," Clarkson explained. "She's got this different vibe from everyone else: She’s peaceful and passionate."

After being passed from Team Legend to Team Shelton and now Team Clarkson, Cedrice joked: "You have to stop doing this to me."

Host Carson Daly quipped, "You are a Jonas brother away from having all four coaches."

Monday's episode also marked the start of the first-ever Four-Way Knockout, where four artists saved by their coaches in the Battles will compete for America's vote.

"Only one person is going to win, so the pressure has never been higher," Shelton said. Legend added, "I’m excited to see how this goes."

Team Legend's Nelson Cade III sang "Best Part" by Daniel Caesar & H.E.R.; Team Clarkson's Samantha Howell performed a rendition of Willie Nelson's "Always on My Mind"; Team Shelton's Todd Michael Hall offered up a take on OneRepublic's "Somebody to Love"; and Team Jonas' Michael Williams sang "You are the Reason" by Calum Scott.

The winner, who will be announced at the start of the live shows in May, will join the Top 17.

"The Voice" is expected to produce remaining finalist competitions remotely beginning May 4, and name a winner two weeks later.
