“The Voice” season 24 kicks into high gear on Tuesday, November 21 when the four teams led by veteran coaches John Legend and Gwen Stefani as well as reigning champion Niall Horan and first-timer Reba McEntire enter The Playoffs. After the blind auditions, battle rounds and three-way knockouts, the coaches have narrowed their teams down to five and will add a sixth who is yet-to-be-revealed as a wild card pick.

As of now, Team Niall consists of four four-chair turns: Huntley, Nini Iris and Alexa Wildish, all of whom he won over in the blinds, and Mara Justine, whom he stole from John in the knockouts; and Claudia B., a three-chair turn that he stole from John in the battles and then saved in the knockouts.

SEE Everything to know about ‘The Voice’ Season 24: Premiere date, coaches

1. Huntley
(Blinds: “She Talks to Angels;” Battles: “Hold My Hand;” Knockouts: “Wanted Dead or Alive”)

It’s a shame really that Huntley did “Wanted Dead or Alive” in the knockouts because he probably would have survived that round on any song and it’s a performance that with the support of the live show staging could have given him a winner-making moment on the show. Luckily for Huntley, big rock vocals are a dime a dozen and he can easily perform just like that or better to achieve the same feeling again. If Niall can get himself a back-to-back win, trust that it will be on the heels of Huntley.

2. Nini Iris
(Blinds: “I See Red;” Battles: “Heart of Glass;” Knockouts: “Karma Police”)

Nini’s strength in the competition is that there isn’t a better female rock vocalist in it than her. She’s had phenomenal song choice throughout, even if her blind audition remains her best to date. She’s an exciting vocalist that will put on a show and can produce the kind of show stopping moment it takes to stand out live on stage. For her, it will all come down to song choice and with the right one, she could become a contender.

3. Claudia B.
(Blinds: “Human Nature;” Battles: “Son of a Preacher Man;” Knockouts: “Don’t Know Why”)

Stolen to Team Niall in the battles, it was a compelling compliment that her original coach John gave of her in the knockouts that he had never seen her as an artist until then. In that knockout she managed to put forward something that justified all three of the artists moving on to the playoffs. Niall may have chosen Huntley as the winner, but his save of Claudia is just as strong of an indicator that he never intended to let her go in the first place. She’s on an upward trajectory and could become the singer songwriter voice of the competition.

4. Alexa Wildish
(Blinds: “Songbird;” Battles: “everything i wanted;” Knockouts: “Believe”)

Fleetwood Mac. Billie Eilish. Cher. Those are the big names Alexa has taken on and somehow maintains her own identity as a singer songwriter that can delve into the emotional core of a lyric. Her most impressive turn-around of a song was “Believe,” performing a big ballad quietly with a guitar and highlighting the sadness of the words in a way that shows the audience something new. It’s hard to tell whether her style will translate well enough to the live stage for her to make sense as someone for Niall to choose to move forward with.

5. Mara Justine
(Blinds: “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road;” Battles: “Son of a Preacher Man;” Knockouts: “Without You”)

Despite excellent song selection of well-known tracks and artists, Mara has yet to stick out from the pack. She’s on the strongest team in the competition and while she could be a leading contender on any of the other teams, her chances of supplanting someone Niall has been working with for longer are low.
