‘The Voice 24’ playoffs power rankings: Ruby Leigh and Noah Spencer lead Team Reba

“The Voice” season 24 kicks into high gear on Tuesday, November 21 when the four teams led by veteran coaches John Legend and Gwen Stefani as well as reigning champion Niall Horan and first-timer Reba McEntire enter The Playoffs. After the blind auditions, battle rounds and three-way knockouts, the coaches have narrowed their teams down to five and will add a sixth who is yet-to-be-revealed as a wild card pick.

As of now, Team Reba consists of: Ruby Leigh and Jordan Rainer, two four-chair turns she won over in the blinds; Jacquie Roar, another four-chair turn she stole from Team Gwen in the battles; Noah Spencer, stolen from Team Niall in the knockouts; and Tom Nitti, her single-chair turn that she saved in the knockouts.

1. Ruby Leigh
(Blinds: “I Want to Be a Cowboy’s Sweetheart;” Battles: “Jolene;” Knockouts: “Blue”)

Across all four team, no one stands out quite like Ruby does. The yodeling, traditional country singer has stayed 100% true to herself in all three rounds, winning over the Queen of Country through pure, unfiltered country music loyalty. Ruby is the type of exciting artist that appears on the voice once every few seasons, giving long-time viewers not just someone new to root for, but something new. If Reba and Ruby bring the yodel back on the lives (you better believe they will) then it’s lights out for everyone else in the competition — there will be nothing buzzier than that.

2. Noah Spencer
(Blinds: “Something in the Orange;” Battles: “Lego House;” Knockouts: “Where Rainbows Never Die”)

When we talk about Noah we can really just narrow the focus down to what became an unexpected steal for Reba to make in the knockouts. Reba was so moved by Noah’s performance that she could barely keep the tears in telling him that he took her back to the feeling of sitting on her own back porch. We know that Reba values the way an artist connects to the audience in their performance and Noah did just that without having to think about it. Reba has a lot of artists on her team that she already loves, but Noah may have just jumped near the top with one song.

3. Jacquie Roar
(Blinds: “Here for the Party;” Battles: “Need a Favor;” Knockouts: “Girl”)

If any Team Reba artist can build a dark horse path to the finale, it’s going to be Jacquie. Reba was itching to get Jacquie over to her team ever since she lost out to the Gwen during the blinds and in her song selection you can see exactly why. Jacquie delivers hard-hitting, country rock song every round and those are the kind of songs that Reba built her own career on. Reba also knows that they’ll be effective on a live stage where the whole idea is to bring enough energy to a performance to inspire people to vote.

4. Tom Nitti
(Blinds: “Signed, Sealed, Delivered (I’m Yours);” Battles: “Til You Can’t;” Knockouts: “(I Know) I’m Losing You”)

It’s amazing to recall that Tom was a single-chair turn because his blind audition remains his best performance to date. It’s in him that you see Reba’s bias for country music come through with her choices because he was mostly in the background during the battles performance and then only survived the knockouts with her save. His three song choices have all had the same energy to them and he delivered them all with a similar rebel yell-like vocal. Whether the voters get out of the seats just because Tom can hit a big note is what his success will come down to.

5. Jordan Rainer
(Blinds: “Fancy;” Battles: “A Heart Won’t Lie;” Knockouts: “hole in the bottle”)

It’s easy to understand the value Reba sees in having Jordan on her team — they are, without a doubt, the best aligned pairing in the competition and perhaps none o the other coaches would understand Jordan enough to see her through to the end of the competition. Jordan’s problem is that there’s other artists on the team that have stolen the spotlight from her and will create more buzz and prove to have the versatility that it takes to navigate the live show and audience vote rounds where Reba will not be able to save her.
