Vivica A. Fox is just months away from reaching a milestone birthday.

During an appearance on Today with Hoda and Jenna on Thursday, April 25, the actress spoke with hosts Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager about her upcoming "sexy 60" birthday — and how she plans to celebrate on July 30.

"You know, I used to go to Jamaica every year, because my brother Marvin is born on the same day ... It’s fun. We party. We do a whole weekend in Jamaica usually and have a great time," she said. "… This one is going to be different for me, so I'm probably going to do more intimate things."

For Fox, a more intimate party looks like hanging out with her girlfriends in L.A., visiting her mom in Indiana and treating herself by watching to the U.S. Open — she'll be cheering for Coco Gauff, she told the hosts.

"My treat to myself is to come back for the US Open again, and hopefully Coco wins it again," she said, adding that she watched Gauff's last match in 2023 — when she became the youngest youngest American to win the tournament in 20 years.

"It was awesome. I can still feel the electricity when she hit that last shot. The building just exploded," she notes. "It was awesome."

Opening up about the physical changes that come with turning 60, Fox joked that her knees need some help once in a while, but she's become much more comfortable over the years in her own skin.

"My knees somedays are like, 'Let's go get a little help there,'" she joked. "... But I’m so comfortable in the skin I'm in."

"I never expected this chapter of my life to be so booked, busy and blessed — literally in that order," she said. "I'm finally getting quality; I’m getting projects that I love doing. Last year, I directed for the first time."

"And so I had a lot of drama, as far as acting," she continued. "So when I got the chance [to do Not Another Church Movie], I jumped at the chance. ‘Cause everyone’s so serious now. So let’s go spread humor and just laugh."

Responding to a question from Kotb about what she attributes to getting those doors to open for her, decades into her career, Fox said working with women has given her "wonderful opportunities."

"I’m all about girl power and lately women have been giving me the most wonderful opportunities," she said. "Like my directorial debut, I got it from Tressa Smallwood, of Mega Mind [Media]. I directed a short for her and she said, 'Oh no, Missy gets it.' … And so, the blessings have just kept growing."

"Finally, everyone's giving me my flowers. And it’s about time! And I’m taking them!" she said.

Fox also spoke about her dating life, sharing with Kotb and Bush Hager that she feels a little bit too "old fashioned" to get on a dating app.

"I’m wanting to date, it’s just limited resources out there, right?" she joked, adding that she wants someone who she can consider a partner at this stage in her life. "Because I’m not getting on an app. I’m old fashioned. I need to meet you and sparks happen because I just believe people make up stories, saying who and what they are."
