Virginia Zoo to host Jimmy Buffett tribute concert

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – Just in time for World Parrot Day, the Virginia Zoo is set to host a Jimmy Buffett tribute concert as a part of their annual concert series, ZooGrooves.
From 5:30-9 p.m. on Friday, May 31, guests will be able to enjoy Buffett’s greatest hits from the Tiki Bar Band and the Mosaic Steel Orchestra, as well as enjoy island-themed food and drinks, shopping at a Margaritaville Market and photos with boats provided by Lynnhaven Marine.
Before 6:15 p.m., guests will also have the opportunity to meet several animal ambassadors, which could include parrot species like the green-winged macaw and the eclectus parrot.
A special-themed menu, including margaritas, piña coladas and cheeseburgers, will be available for purchase at a pop-up in the Event Pavilion. Several food trucks, such as Hola Snacks, Flavor Savor BBQ and Sweet Tweetz, will also be available for guests at the event.
Ahead of the official launch of the Zoo’s partnership with Big Ugly Brewing on June 1, guests will also have the opportunity to taste Call of the Wild, a light lager, and Stamen Alive, a hibiscus and butterfly pea flower pale ale.
All tickets purchased by May 27 will be entered into a raffle, which is set to take place during the event, for a 54-quart, steel-belted, Coca-Cola branded cooler.
