Virginia-based poke bowl restaurant opens Sarasota County location

A Virginia poke bowl concept has expanded to Sarasota County, joining the long list of recent restaurant openings, several coming from out of state.

PokeHub is now open at 1693 U.S. 41 Bypass S., Unit A in Venice's Jacaranda Plaza, according to an employee who answered the phone. (Attempts to reach an owner for further comment were not immediately successful.) The restaurant's other locations include Fairfax, Reston and Centreville, all in Fairfax County, Virginia. It joins such other restaurants in Jacaranda Plaza as Crave Hot Dogs & BBQ, Bonefish Grill, Crisp & Green, First Watch, Jersey Mike's Subs, Kendo and Norma Jean's.

Customers can choose from ahi tuna, salmon, spicy tuna, scallop, albacore, shrimp, chicken, sweet egg and tofu for protein; white or brown rice, spring mix, romaine lettuce and kale for the base; cucumber, pineapple, cilantro, onion, edamame, jalapeno, green onion and sweet corn for mix-ins; crab meat, avocado, masago, crispy onion, ginger, sesame seed, wasabi, furikake and seaweed salad for toppings, and chipotle or wasabi mayo, eel sauce, hot sauce, yuzu ponzu and sesame shoyu for sauces.

The menu also features a few signature bowls such as the PokeHub Classic with ahi tuna, Salmon's Kick with wasabi mayo and Spicy Sunflower with ahi and spicy tuna, chipotle mayo and hot sauce. Beyond bowls, the restaurant also offers a sushi burrito, an eel box with unagi, and sodas and other similar beverages.
