Sarah Francis Jones and Marcel Spears have possibly one of the best baby birthing stories and it happens to involve Beyoncé.

On Sept. 4, the expectant co-parents, who are both actors, attended the final night of Beyoncé’s Los Angeles-area Renaissance World Tour hoping to have “one last hoorah” but ended up meeting their baby girl a bit earlier than they’d planned.

Hairspray's Jones and The Neighborhood's Spears spoke exclusively to PEOPLE about the evening they’ll never forget.

They went viral after posting footage of themselves at the SoFi Stadium concert in Inglewood, then seconds later, the clip switched to Jones in the delivery room.

Reminiscing on the evening, Jones said she and Spears previously joked about going into labor at the show but never thought it would actually happen. Their scheduled C-section was days away.

“We told our doctor what our plan was. Our doctor was fine,” Spears said in response to some who wondered why they attended a show so close to the due date.

And then, according to Jones, “lots of stuff happened.”

They’d already attended Beyoncé’s Toronto concert when Jones was around 7 months pregnant, “So we knew what to expect this time around,” she shared.

“Going into this, I was just like, 'Okay, maybe I won't be able to dance as much, but I'm still gonna have a good time,'" Jones recalled.

But things felt different after walking from their car to the venue and then to their seats. “So I would sit down every so often,” she added.

Spears said as a first-time father, he’d done a lot of research and read that “the closer you get once you're in your third trimester, sometimes the baby moves around and the baby's sitting on your bladder, different things will happen.”

Jones said what she thought were Braxton Hicks contractions intensified during the “Mute Challenge.”

“No, God no, because can you imagine?” Spears told PEOPLE when asked if Jones’ water broke at SoFi Stadium. “If her water had broken, I feel like it would have been a larger show, like there would have been a leakage down onto the stage. And one of the twins could have slipped,” he said jokingly.

“Or one of the dancers,” Jones joined in.

“And we don’t want that. I'm grateful that that didn't happen,” the new father quipped.

The pair made it home, and Jones, being Trinidadian, thought a cup of hot tea would be the best remedy for her Braxton Hicks.

Spears said before the water finished heating in the kettle, they knew it was time to head to the hospital.

He playfully thanked his baby girl for being “very courteous and allowing us to finish the concert” but said they also would have been okay if Beyoncé ended up being their doula.

As for the baby girl’s name, the parents decided naming her after the Houston native would have put a lot of “pressure on a young person.”

Jones and Spears named their daughter Nola, a tribute to the father’s hometown of New Orleans, Louisiana.

“But we did want to do something creative or a nod to Beyoncé for the middle name. And so we decided on Renai, short for Renaissance,” he confirmed to PEOPLE.

According to the new parents, Nola’s favorite songs so far appear to be “VIRGO’S GROOVE” and “HEATED.”
