Viral Food Critic Keith Lee Announces ‘Redemption Food Tour,’ Returns to Atlanta
“It would only be right to do a redemption tour,” viral food critic and social media influencer Keith Lee shared in a recent video on TikTok. In a video posted on March 31, the social media megastar announced that he and his family would embark on another multi-city food tour.
Who is Keith Lee?
Lee is best known for his straightforward food and customer service reviews as well as his humble demeanor. The fighter-turned-social media influencer has risen to fame because of his commitment to supporting small businesses in the food industry. One positive review from him can yield hundreds of visits, and in some instances, even save a business.
But his attitude is the real standout. On multiple occasions, Lee has turned down opportunities to skip customer lines or receive preferential treatment because of his visibility online. Instead, he prefers to remain anonymous during many visits to get an authentic experience for an honest review.
The Atlanta Tour Part Two
“Now this is a redemption tour. It’s separate from the food tour,” Lee said.
He explained that the stops will be redemptive, allowing cities to provide a different experience in the food scene. The Lee family will not be visiting any of the previous places they went to.
“We’re going to new restaurants and new areas,” he said in the video, noting that there would be new categories.
Lee told his Tiktok audience of more than 16 million users that he would visit mom-and-pop spots. He also emphasized places people suggested and voted on during a round of Instagram stories he shared recently.
From the Bottom Up
Lee said he would start “from the bottom” of the list, with Atlanta, Georgia being the first stop.
Last year, Lee visited Atlanta and unintentionally began a social media debate over the less-than-ideal practices of many popular Atlanta restaurants. Through multiple videos, the foodie shared his experience while in the city. In some cases, he wasn’t served at all because of hard-to-decipher pickup policies, unplanned closings, or inconsistent customer service. Because of that experience, he rated Atlanta as last place of the cities he visited.
However, he’ll soon be headed back and appears excited about it. He extended his call for food suggestions, inviting followers to direct message, email, or tag businesses that should be on his must-visit list.
Lee also stressed that he and his family plan for the visit to be peaceful, but will be protected. In no specific terms, he shared that he and his family would be getting home safely and are only in town to eat, meet people, and support local restaurants.
