Even behind-the-scenes, Chadwick Boseman was making music on Ma Rainey's Black Bottom.

The late actor plays ambitious trumpeter Levee in the Netflix film (now streaming) and actually learned to play the instrument in real life for the role. He was also skilled on the guitar, as evidenced by the video that his costar Viola Davis shared on Instagram on Wednesday.

"THIS was Chadwick! A gift," Davis captioned the video showing Boseman quietly and beautifully playing the guitar on set. The behind-the-scenes video was originally posted on a Boseman fan page.

Ma Rainey's Black Bottom is Boseman's final film role. He died in August at 43 after a private four-year battle with colon cancer.
