Viola Davis, 58, is sharing her affection for her daughter on National Daughters Day.

The actress posted a sweet carousel of photos featuring her and her daughter, Genesis Tennon, on Instagram, Monday, in celebration of the fun holiday.

Davis' post included photos of the mother-daughter duo over the years — including baby photos — with the caption, "My daughter is my heart. ❤️#HappyNationalDaughterDay."

Davis shares Genesis, 13, with actor/producer Julius Tennon, who she's been with for over two decades after meeting on the set of the CBS series City of Angels in 1999. In 2011, the couple adopted Genesis.

On the subject of motherhood, Davis told PEOPLE in 2017, "I wanted my life to mean and be something deeper. That's when the urge came, and the urge was just very, very, very, strong. So I have a kid now, and she is just the light of our lives."

Earlier this month, Davis revealed that she'd taken a step back from her recent role in the upcoming action film G20 due to the writer's strike, with the star telling Deadline, “I love this movie, but I do not feel that it would be appropriate for this production to move forward during the strike. I appreciate that the producers on the project agree with this decision. JuVee Productions and I stand in solidarity with actors, SAG/AFTRA and the WGA.”
