Vaughn Met With the President, and People Have Thoughts

Vince Vaughn was seen talking with Donald Trump at the National Championship football game between Louisiana State University and Clemson on Monday night, and people are of course talking about it on Twitter. Apparently it's blowing up the site, since people forgot that Vaughn is a libertarian.

The news that Vaughn went out of his way to speak to Trump really should not come as a surprise. He's publicly supported Republican Sen. Rand Paul and Ron Paul, a former presidential candidate who's a known libertarian.

It's All On Video

Daily Beast writer Timothy Burke shared the video snippet, whereVaughn is seen talking with Trump in the stands as Neil Diamond's "Sweet Caroline" plays in the background.

When Vaughn was through with his conversation, he shook his hand and waved to everyone else as he left, giving someone a peace sign as well.

Kind of an interesting note: As the lyric "hand touching hand" is sung by Neil Diamond, Vaughn shakes hands with Trump.

Twitter Split

Burke wrote, "I'm very sorry to have to share this video with you. All of it, every part of it."

Conservative voters came out to support Vaughn's interaction with Trump, while others read something deeper into the interaction.

Barbara Mills wrote: "All of you saying calm down, Vaughn is shaking the hand of the man who is hell bent on destroying not just our democracy, but our survival in the world community, for his personal benefit. Wake up!"

Dana Loesch, former spokesperson for the National Rifle Association, wanted people to lighten up on the negative comment, tweeting: "Vince Vaughn is one of my favorites. Back off the canceling, stage five clingers."

He Was Underdog Peter La Fleur

The meeting does seem a bit odd if you consider the roles he's played -- like the down-on-his-luck gym owner in Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story.

At one point in that movie, he and his friends try to raise money for the gym, which was going to be acquired by successful company Globo Gym if Vaughn's character didn't come up with enough money to keep the business running.

But of course, that was just a movie.

We're Still Not Getting Along

@MattsIdeaShop replied to Burke's tweet:

"There are two groups of ppl in America. It’s not democrats and republicans, it’s people that want to get along and people who don’t. There are way more ppl that want to get along than not. You’re in the minority and you’re losing."

And @McBrosius wrote back to him:

"And Don’t forget: It’s people who like dictators and people who don’t. It’s people who like gross incompetency in governing and people who don’t. It’s people who like separated kids in cages and people who don’t, etc etc etc etc ...."

Breaking news: People are divided over Trump in office.
