Inspired by Norse folklore, Vikings follows the rise of Ragnar Lothbrok from being an ordinary farmer to becoming the most revered commander of the Viking tribes. Ever since Vikings concluded its sixth season on December 30, 2020, fans have been curious about whether a seventh season of the historical drama series would happen.
Here’s all the Vikings Season 7 release date information we know so far, and all the details on when it is coming out.
Is there a Vikings Season 7 release date?
Vikings Season 7 does not have a release date as it will not be happening.
However, a sequel series to the Vikings, Vikings: Valhalla was made in place of a seventh season. This sequel series is set in England more than 100 years after the events of Vikings and revolves around tensions between the descendants of the Vikings and native Englishmen which reaches a bloody breaking point. Moreover, there is also internal conflict among the Viking descendants themselves over differing beliefs regarding Christianity and paganism.
Vikings’ cast includes Travis Fimmel as Ragnar Lothbrok, Katheryn Winnick as Lagertha, Gustaf Skarsgård as Floki, Alexander Ludwig as Bjorn Ironside, Georgia Hirst as Torvi, Peter Franzén as King Harald Finehair, Alex Høgh Andersen as Ivar Lothbrok/Ivar the Boneless, Jordan Patrick Smith as Ubbe Lothbrok, and Clive Standen as Rollo, among others.
Where is Vikings Season 7 coming out?
Vikings Season 7 will not come out on Prime Video as the series has ended after a six-season run. However, fans can catch its sequel Vikings: Valhalla on Netflix.
The official synopsis for Vikings reads:
“The Adventures of Ragnar Lothbrok, the greatest hero of his age. The series tells the sagas of Ragnar’s band of Viking brothers and his family, as he rises to become King of the Viking tribes. As well as being a fearless warrior, Ragnar embodies the Norse traditions of devotion to the gods. Legend has it that he was a direct descendant of Odin, the god of war and warriors.”
