Vikings now have league leading 49 points on opening drives this season

The Minnesota Vikings got the ball to start the game Thursday and did what they have done six other times this season: score a touchdown on their opening drive. With a touchdown on their opening drive, the Vikings have scored a league-leading 49 points on the team’s opening drive this season.

The Vikings went 80 yards on just eight plays where quarterback Kirk Cousins found star wide receiver Justin Jefferson on a crossing route for a six yard touchdown pass. They celebrated with a team Griddy afterwards.

The drive was very well executed. Cousins moved up into the pocket and drew a linebacker into the middle of the field and found Thielen hiding in the zone.

They also threw a swing pass backwards to Jefferson and he threw it downfield to Thielen for a good gain.

The touchdown was well executed as Jefferson was the catalyst on a mesh concept, springing him open. It was a great start for the Vikings and hopefully they can keep it up.
