"I was not happy about it," Brian Teta told Haines, who responded by noting that and Hostin were also "so mad" at Teta in response.

The View producer Brian Teta did not take a little time to enjoy the view of his on-air personalities sitting front-row during a broadcast of The Wendy Williams Show.

Teta and current View cohost Sara Haines discussed the incident on Thursday's episode of the Behind the Table podcast, after the latter expressed that she's "heartbroken" over developments concerning Williams' recent diagnosis with aphasia and frontotemporal dementia.

"I wanted to go see Wendy, Sunny [Hostin] and I," Haines told Teta, reflecting on her early tenure as a permanent panelist on The View, years prior to Williams stepping down from her beloved talk show in 2021. "We tried to get tickets through all of our hair and makeup people. Brian was like, 'You could ask for tickets, like, we could probably arrange with the show.' We got tickets, and they were going to put us in the front row."

Haines went on to praise Williams' interview style, and said she "wanted to witness that" in person.

"We were taking pictures from the front row, and you're like, 'You literally are on camera in the front row of another show,'" Haines recalled, and Teta confirmed his disappointment. "Yeah, I was not happy about it at the time, because I just thought, it was early in the time you worked here, and you and Sunny just going to hang out, just to be in the audience of another talk show," he said. "Guys, this is not what happens, you don't look in our audience and see Oprah hanging out in the second row."

Though she appeared to eventually understand Teta's position, Haines said that she and Hostin weren't happy with Teta over his reaction, either.

"We could not understand why," Haines recalled. "We were so mad at you, we were like, 'Why is he not celebrating this? We're so excited.'"

Teta's conversation with Haines came hours after The View welcomed Williams' niece, Alex Finnie, to the table to reflect on her aunt's life as depicted in the new Lifetime documentary Where Is Wendy Williams? which chronicles the mysterious circumstances surrounding Williams highly publicized retreat from the spotlight amid personal and health struggles that ultimately led to former View panelist Sherri Shepherd inheriting The Wendy Williams Show's time slot.

The View airs weekdays at 11 a.m. ET on ABC. Listen to Behind the Table above.
