'The View' Hosts Joy Behar And Meghan McCain Have Heated Exchange Over MAGA Hats

Joy Behar and Meghan McCain got into yet another spat on "The View" this week while discussing politics. Things got started during a segment in which the panel was discussing Nancy Pelosi's firm response to reporter James Rosen. He asked the Speaker of the House if she "hated" President Donald Trump. She didn't appreciate the question.

“And as a Catholic, I resent your using the word ‘hate’ in a sentence that addresses me. I don’t hate anyone. I was raised in a way that is a heart full of love and always pray for the president. And I still pray for the president. I pray for the president all the time,” she said.

“So don’t mess with me when it comes to words like that."

While some of the panelists praised Pelosi for her response to the report, McCain had some issues with the Congresswoman.

"I think the problem is when — she did answer it masterfully — the problem is now she's now selling T-shirts that say #DontMessWithNancy," McCain said. "For $39, you can buy a T-shirt."

"My problem is everything is a meme, everything's for the internet," McCain continued. "This is very serious, we're talking about the Constitution, we're talking about impeachment and, to me, it reduces it, it's very reductive to start selling sweatshirts that say #DontMesswithNancy."

"So you mean like hats that say 'Make America Great Again'?" Behar responded to McCain.

"You know what, I'm just trying to make a point and I've never worn a MAGA hat, I think you know better than anybody I would never wear a MAGA hat," McCain said. "And politics doesn't have to be a meme and clicktivism, but whatever."

Despite the testy exchange, McCain and Behar told Entertainment Tonight in September that the two get along very well behind-the-scenes.

"Normally, we disagree but it's still a lot of good stuff coming up. I always thought they should have us moderate the debates. Because you're gonna get, first all, we're not going to BS anyone. ... We are also going to ask all the questions that both extreme sides of the party want to know and I think that's important," McCain said.
