The cohosts reacted to the development on the air at ABC Studios in New York City's Upper West Side.

The View itself turned into a literal Hot Topic Wednesday, after the talk show's New York City studio was evacuated when a fire broke out on the neighboring Tamron Hall show set.

After Hall announced the news in a video post, Whoopi Goldberg revealed how the cohosts grappled with the incident at ABC Studios after the panelists walked out to the table to the sounds of Billy Joel's "We Didn't Start the Fire" song.

"This morning, we had to evacuate the studio because there was a fire that we did not start. We don't know how it started, we don't know what started it," Goldberg told the audience. Ana Navarro — filling in for Sara Haines, who's absent from the table due to a funeral — added: "I was coming in from the airport and it was a Hot Topics meeting, so I pressed the Zoom link thinking I'd find all of you on the Zoom, and it was dark, empty, and [an] alarm [going off], flashing lights. I thought, holy hell!"

Accompanying photos flashed on screen, showing Joy Behar wearing sunglasses as the show's staff filed out onto the street. Another image showed Goldberg standing on a curb nearby.

Conservative cohost Alyssa Farah Griffin said that the evacuation made her come to terms with her priorities

"Once I saw that all the hosts were fine, I was like, 'Where is my glam team?' Leave [producer] Brian [Teta], but as long as hair and makeup is safe!" she joked.

Legal expert Sunny Hostin quipped that she left her purse in her dressing room, but was amused that she scooped up her cell phone prior to departing the studio.

"I grabbed my purse," Goldberg said, before stressing that "Tamron did not start the fire."

"Well, it was her kitchen," Behar said, to which Goldberg replied, "It was her kitchen, but it doesn't mean it was her being in it."

Earlier Wednesday, Hall released a video announcing that the syndicated show "had a grease fire" in the kitchen at its Upper West Side location. When reached for comment, a New York City Fire Department spokesperson told Entertainment Weekly that crews responded at around 8:42 a.m. local time.

"On arrival units had discovered burnt food on the stove in the building," the spokesperson adds. "FDNY handled this call with one engine and one ladder consisting of approx. 12 personnel. No injuries were reported."

EW has reached out to representatives for The View and Tamron Hall for comment.

The View airs weekdays at 11 a.m. ET on ABC.
