“The View”'s Alyssa Farah Griffin says people think Whoopi's 'sensing something' with pregnancy query

The View cohost Alyssa Farah Griffin is sharing her thoughts on Whoopi Goldberg's surprise pregnancy inquiry during yesterday's broadcast.
The former White House communications director revealed on a recent episode of the show's podcast, The View: Behind the Table, that people now think Goldberg might actually be onto something with her out-of-the-blue question.
"Now everyone's convinced that she's sensing something and that it's gonna happen in my future," Griffin said. She jokingly added, "So I'll report back and I'll be sure to blurt it out if and when I am pregnant. I will definitely interrupt Whoopi to inform her."
Goldberg was in the middle of discussing Utah senator Mitt Romney's decision not to run for re-election in 2024 when she "got a vibe" and, unprompted, turned to Griffin and asked her if she was expecting. The query took Griffin by complete surprise, causing her to jolt backwards and admonish Goldberg for asking while her mother-in-law was in the audience.

On the podcast, Griffin revealed it wasn't just her mother-in-law in the crowd, but also her grandmother-in-law. "They had tried to come to see me before and the morning of I tested positive for COVID, so this is a big deal," she recalled. "If there are two people in my life who want me to be pregnant today, more than anyone, it's them, so just the most fortuitous timing."
Griffin maintained, however, that her feelings weren't hurt by Goldberg's question. "Whoopi, she thinks out loud sometimes, and I chose to take it as a compliment that I'm glowing," she said. "She's so sweet. At the break, she was apologizing to me and giving me the heart sign."
It's these moments, Griffin explained, that are "what makes the show fun" in the first place. "It's completely unpredictable," she said. "I thought we were talking about Mitt Romney, but then we were talking about my pregnancy plans of the future, which, again, headline news: I am not pregnant at this time."
She did acknowledge, however, that the query forced her to field several requests for comment. "I literally was getting texts on the commercial break from reporters like, 'Do you care to respond to this?'" she remarked. "I used to take questions about like, there was a missile attack in Afghanistan, and now I'm like, 'Um, no, I'm not going to comment on my fake pregnancy right now.'"
The View's executive producer, Brian Teta, who also runs the podcast, shared that Goldberg came up to him afterward to explain what went through her mind during the incident. "She's like, 'It just came over me. I don't know what happened. It was like a vision,'" he recalled, noting that "she felt that it just came out of her" without a second thought.
Still, he said that Goldberg, ironically, frequently encourages her fellow The View hosts to keep their personal lives private.
"Actually, that's a great point because I guarantee if I actually told her privately that I was pregnant, her advice would be wait 'til you're ready to tell people, so that's the funniest thing about it," Griffin said. "She would never be like, 'Just shout it on air.' But, listen, that's what makes the show interesting!"
