Video Premiere: Zepherin Saint Remixes ‘Optimistic’ With Ann Nesby and G3

To celebrate their 100th release, the U.K.’s Tribe Records wanted to pick a special song to remix, and scored gold with “Optimistic,” the 1991 debut single from the groundbreaking gospel act Sounds of Blackness.

Zepherin Saint, producer, DJ, talent scout and co-founder of Tribe, handled the honors himself, giving the song a contemporary house mix, plus a special bonus. He scored new vocals from Sounds of Blackness lead Ann Nesby, her daughter Jamecia Bennett, also a Sounds of Blackness alum as well as background singer, and grand daughter and former American Idol finalist Paris Bennett. The trio dubbed G3 sounds incredible. Hopefully, there’s more to come.
