Video Premiere: RHCP Chad Smith talks to Dave Grohl about Paul McCartney

Acclaimed PBS docu-series Landmarks Live In Concert, which features global superstars performing at iconic locations around the world, is winning praise for its fun, humorous segments hosted by multi-Grammy winner and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee Chad Smith from the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

In this exclusive clip, Smith talks to the Foo Fighters, including a personal one-on-one with frontman Dave Grohl on a jaunt around Athens, Greece. Grohl reveals to Smith that the group had a very special guest star play drums on one of their songs — namely, none other than the legendary Paul McCartney! The two discuss what it was like to work with the Beatle, and what his technique brought to the song.

“I liked the idea of connecting with other artists in this new way,” Smith explains of his involvement with the series. “The entire concept spoke to me. Music plus landmarks all over the world, learning about how other musicians work, how they approach their craft, is something I’m always drawn to.”

Smith also stopped by BUILD Series in New York City to talk about the show, including future plans with the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Will the band be the first to play on the moon? That would make for the ultimate Landmarks episode!

The full episode with the Foo Fighters airs Nov. 10 on PBS (check local listings) and features performance from the group live from Athens’s Acropolis.
