Video Premiere: Original 'America's Got Talent' Winner Bianca Ryan Returns With 'One Day'

Long before America’s Got Talent turned Jackie Evancho and Grace VanderWaal into overnight child-star sensations, there was Bianca Ryan, who at age 11 was the very first AGT winner in 2006, thanks to standout performances like “And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going.”

Incredibly, that was literally half Ryan’s lifetime ago — and she hasn’t gone anywhere. Though her career was sidelined by a split from her label and management and vocal cords surgery, now-22-year-old vocalist, whom Simon Cowell once declared one of the best singers he’d ever heard, is releasing her first independent EP this summer. And Yahoo Music’s Reality Rocks is premiering the lyric video for the EP’s first singe, “One Day,” right here.

“I have waited over a year to release ‘One Day,” Ryan tells Yahoo. “If you would have asked me a year ago, I would have thought my music would never be released. I went through a ton of roadblocks in 2015 and 2016 that I never saw coming, including two vocal cord surgeries due to a virus I didn’t know I had. But even in vocal recovery, I knew I could still write. I could reflect on my life and all of my experiences and write lyrics. I could write my story. And that’s what I did. I kept going back and editing my lyrics for ‘One Day,’ and I can finally say it is my story. It’s a story I’ve been waiting to share for so long. I want everyone to know that I didn’t just disappear after my early success in music. I’ve been pushing and persevering every day. Some people may have left the journey with me, but I am still here.”

Describes the personal song, which she says is “very close to my heart,” Ryan says “The lyrics tangle between a bright witty euphoria of my daydreams, like having a yacht, with the crashing late-night thoughts of doubt that keep me up at night. I think everyone can relate to that feeling. This song is to inspire all of the dreamers out there who have been told that what they want is impossible. This song is our anthem to keep pursuing your dreams because if you keep a positive mindset, one day they can all become a reality. One day isn’t as far away as you may think.”
