Video Premiere: Mindi Abair and the Boneshakers debut 'Vinyl'

Mindi Abair is one of the most recognized and in-demand saxophonists in popular music today. Starting her career in 2000, she has notched up a remarkable résumé: seven solo albums, 10 No. 1 radio hits, a two-season run as the featured saxophonist on American Idol, and a tour slot with Aerosmith. Her solo album Wild Heart, released in 2014, included collaborations with the late Gregg Allman, Joe Perry, and Trombone Shorty, and earned her a Grammy nomination for Best Contemporary Instrumental Album.

Abair released her latest album, The EastWest Sessions, with the Boneshakers last month. The record features contributions from blues luminaries Joe Bonamassa and Fantastic Negrito. Yahoo Music is excited to premiere the video for the disc’s first single, “Vinyl,” for fans to get a taste of her rootsy vibe. “Vinyl” was directed by Nick Egan (who’s also helmed videos for Duran Duran, INXS, Alanis Morissette, and more).

“Everyone is such a force of nature in this band,” says Abair of the project. “I wanted to create the right vehicle to showcase everyone and capture the swagger of what we do live.”
