Video Premiere: Lindenfield Debuts ‘I Don’t Know Why’
Chicago-based songwriter-producer Lindenfield specializes in highly personal music, as well evidenced in his album Season of Death — a masterpiece of loss, sadness, and the humanity involved in dealing with these difficult emotions. He has released a companion EP, Season of Mess, to complement the main release and further expand his exploration on this emotional front.
“These songs didn’t sonically fit the album but were just as meaningful in my grieving process,” he explains. “I’ve been making these records for several years as I live through moves, faith crises, heartbreaks, and deaths. From a pop perspective, these four songs might not make sense together, but they paint my mourning process perfectly.”
Yahoo Music is excited to premiere the video for “I Don’t Know Why” from the EP — a haunting study of the life cycles of personal relationships.
“When I first recorded ‘I Don’t Know Why,’ I wanted to create a song that started intense and only got stronger until the very end,” says the artist. “Once I brought Sealoch Studio on to make the video, that was my only note: Match the intensity for the entire video. There’s so much passion in the moments just after a relationship ends. I wanted to create something so I could tap into that all-consuming emotion whenever I put it on.”
