Video Premiere: Jonathan McReynolds' 'The Way That You Love Me' Video Inspired By Experiences as College Professor

Heralded gospel music recording artist Jonathan McReynolds makes a powerful statement in his new video “The Way That You Love Me” that premieres exclusively on Yahoo Music.

The video directed by Derek Blanks shows people struggling with relationship problems, police brutality, and losing a loved one, and it’s loosely based on things he experienced as a part-time music professor at Chicago’s Columbia College.

“I always want to make sure my content expresses and reflects what people really feel and deal with today,” McReynolds told Yahoo Music via statement. “I’m a teacher in real life and I’ve had students come to class with boy problems, untimely deaths, and ridiculous police stories. They would call them ‘first world’ problems and well, this is a ‘first world’ video.”

The song’s message aims to encourage people in the midst of difficult times to hold on to their faith. He sings, “If you’ve been through what I been though / You know exactly what God can do.”

“The Way That You Love Me” appears on McReynolds’ Life Music: Stage Two that is nominated for a Grammy for Best Gospel Album.
