Video premiere: Inara George debuts 'Young Adult'

Inara George, who is one half of acclaimed indie pop duo the Bird and the Bee with Greg Kurstin, has announced that she’ll be releasing a new solo album — the first since 2009 — and ushered in the news with a fresh single, “Young Adult.”

Yahoo Music is excited to offer fans the first look at the video for “Young Adult,” which explores the concept of how complex existence is in relation to an individual view.

“I wanted the video to try and capture that feeling when life straddles the mundane and the otherworldly. So much of what we think and do in one day is the same thing that we thought and did in the thousands of days prior,” she explains. “But sometimes something happens that reminds us of who we were when we were a child, that there are volcanos exploding all over the planet, that we are standing on an enormous orb that is just spinning in space, or that we live in a very complex and scary world where so many people are suffering in ways that are unimaginable.

“I have recently had the pleasure of meeting and working with Jeremy Cohen, the director of the video,” George continues. “He and I came up with a concept and just spent a day shooting it together. He edited it as well. It was a small, three-person operation, but I feel like we definitely captured the feeling I was hoping to capture.”

George maintains a busy schedule as a solo performer and with the Bird and the Bee, as well as the Living Sisters and other projects. If you’d like to keep up with her schedule, check here.
