Louisiana-bred, Los Angeles-based artist Rod Melancon is proud to represent the South, but at the same time is interested in challenging any audio stereotypes of the region. “I wanted to push the boundaries of what’s expected from an ‘Americana’ artist,” he explains.
Melancon does just this on his recently released second album, Southern Gothic, which takes listeners on a journey into the dark, and often twisted, night of the soul through a collection of cleverly written songs. Yahoo Music is pleased to premiere the video for single “Dwayne and Me” to introduce fans to his songwriting prowess.
Recorded over the course of two years, the album represents is the restless yearning of a young, new South, as well as dives deeper into the roots of Melancon’s own imagination nurtured in the badlands and bayous of his home.
