Will Victoria's Secret Soon Become A Nostalgic Memory?

The millennial generation has grown up watching the annual Victoria's Secret Fashion Show and buying sweatpants that say "Pink" on the butt. Those striped pink bags are hard to miss and they were always a staple to every shopping mall experience.

However, in the last few years, times have changed, and the Victoria's Secret audience seems to be drifting further and further away. Now, women are looking for body inclusivity, and items we can wear that don't cause major scarring around our butts.

The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show Is Cancelled

In August, model Shanina Shaik let it slip in an interview with the Daily Telegraph that Victoria's Secret would not be having an annual show in 2019.

"Unfortunately, the Victoria's Secret show won't be happening this year. It's something I'm not used to because every year around this time I'm training like an angel. But I'm sure in the future something will happen, which I'm pretty sure about."

She continued, "I'm sure they're trying to work on branding and new ways to do the show because it's the best show in the world."

Victoria's Secret Made A Statement

After Shanina Shaik spilled the beans, the company was forced to make a statement, saying, "We are taking a fresh look at every aspect of our business – from merchandising, marketing and brand positioning, to our real estate portfolio, digital business and cost structure … literally everything."

The statement continued, "We must evolve and change to grow. With that in mind, we have decided to re-think the traditional Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. Going forward we don't believe network television is the right fit."

Ed Razek Stirs Up Some Bad PR For The Lingerie Giant

In 2018, after the taping of the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, the company seemed to be on a high. However, before the show was even shown on television, Ed Razek, L Brand's (Victoria's Secret's parent company) chief marketing officer made some comments to Vogue that did not go down well.

He said, "Everybody keeps talking about Rihanna's show. If we had done Rihanna's show, we would be accused of pandering without question."

Things only got worse and nobody slapped a hand over his mouth to get him to stop talking. He continued, "We attempted to do a television special for plus-sizes. No one had any interest in it, still, don't. It's like, why doesn't your show do this? Shouldn't you have transsexuals in the show? No. No, I don't think we should. Well, why not? Because the show is a fantasy. It's a 42-minute entertainment special. That's what it is. It is the only one of its kind in the world, and any other fashion brand in the world would take it in a minute, including the competitors that are carping at us. And they carp at us because we're the leader."

My advice for Mr. Razek: Lift foot up, insert into mouth.

The Angels Did A Campaign With Boohoo

In a move that has made many question whether or not the angels may be falling from grace,Josephine Skriver, Elsa Hosk, Jasmine Tookes and Romee Strijd all posed on the red carpet in Los Angeles last week to celebrate their most recent campaign, a holiday collection with Boohoo, an online fashion retailer.

Industry insiders are taking this as a major sign that things are not going great in the land of wings, glitter, and tanning lotion, especially with Victoria's Secret's declining sales.

Bella Hadid Throws Some Shade At Victoria's Secret

In a move that didn't show her loyalty to the lingerie brand, Bella Hadid recently made comments about how she felt during the Victoria's Secret fashion shows.

After walking in Rihanna's Savage x Fenty 2019 show, Bella said, "For me, that was the first time on a runway that I felt really sexy. Because when I first did Fenty, I was doing other lingerie shows and I never felt powerful on a runway, like, in my underwear."

I wonder what other lingerie shows she could be talking about?

At this rate, it seems Victoria's Secret may be sinking faster than the Titanic, and it's unclear if they can save the ship.
