Victoria Monét has shared words of gratitude towards fans who pushed for her inclusion in the 2023 Video Music Awards performers lineup. On Wednesday (Sept. 13), the Jaguar performer shared an alleged response from the platform when she and her team inquired about taking the stage.
“I see your advocation for me to have performed tonight and I’m so grateful to you!!” exclaimed the “Alright” performer. “Sincerely! My team was told it is ‘too early in my story’ for that opportunity so we will keep working! I’m grateful for YOU, for my tour starting this Friday and for the ability to see some of my favorite people perform tonight and receive the love they so deserve!!!”
She concluded, “For me, it’s part of the story… and in Gods time.”
As mentioned in her social media post, the R&B singer is set to kick off a nationwide tour supporting her latest album JAGUAR II. The 22-city run hits Detroit, Toronto, Atlanta, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles, before closing in Chicago this October.
JAGUAR II was issued in August as the anticipated follow-up to 2019’s JAGUAR. The 11-track project features Lucky Daye, Earth, Wind & Fire, her daughter Hazel, and Buju Banton.
“I feel like I potentially could be minimally profitable if I didn’t like to tour the way I like to tour, but I want to bring the band, I want to bring dancers, just making sure I give people the show that I envision,” explained the acclaimed songwriter to Vulture of her upcoming trek.
“Maybe if it were just a microphone and a DJ, then yes, but I have to cover a lot of costs for staff and travel and equipment. I just want my fans to get the best experience and not give them any less than they deserve. So I’m spending money on them.”
