Victoria Monét Shines In “On My Mama” Performance For ‘The Tonight Show’

Victoria Monét recently performed her hit song, “On My Mama,” on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. The California native hit the stage on Thursday night (Oct. 19) to give viewers a taste of her rising star power.
Monét and her backup dancers were dressed in early 2000s fashion, as singer was seen rocking baggy Girbaud jeans, Nike Air Force 1s, a cropped varsity jacket, and bedazzled undergarments. Male dancers rocked basketball jerseys that looked akin to Los Angeles Lakers’ throwback jerseys, while the ladies wore one-piece body suits and fitted caps. The nostalgic aesthetic was completed with Monét’s song, which features a vocal sample of Chalie Boy’s “I Look Good.” Vicky’s confidence is on full display during her performance, which sent the crowd into a roaring applause.
“When they say, ‘She get it from her mama’/I’m a say, ‘You f**kin’ right’/Body rude, it’s unpolite/Done bein’ the humble type/Tell me, is you down?/’Cause I’m tryna go up tonight,” Victoria sang with a growl. “H*es and hoochies left and right/I just wanna live in a fantasy/I think we deserve it, right?/Top all the memories/I’ve ever made in my life/Permanent ecstasy/Ladies is pimps tonight/Livin’ inside a dream/Let’s lay where the lovers lie,” she sings.
Victoria Monét’s Jaguar II was released on Aug. 25. The songstress released three singles leading up to the LP’s release. These tracks included “Smoke,” featuring Lucky Daye, “Party Girls,” featuring Buju Banton, and “On My Mama.”
Jaguar II debuted in the top ten of Billboard’s Top R&B Albums chart with a No. 6 placement. Monet’s latest effort also charted at No. 22 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums, No. 53 on the Top Album Sales, and No. 60 on the Billboard 200.
