Victoria Monét shared a slightly comical, but all-too-real message regarding weight gain on social media. The Grammy Award-winning singer uploaded a cheeky photo to her Instagram story on Tuesday (April 23) following her 2024 Coachella debut.

“Welp…I gained weight and it went a lot of places lol face, arms, tummy and most effectively…datasss,” wrote the 34-year-old. She continued to explain the health condition that is the cause of her body changes.

“I usually am so critical and frustrated by it because PCOS has me really messed up, but optimistically, at least now theres two moons on stage,” the “Party Girls” singer declared, closing with both the shrug and the crying-laughter emojis.

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is defined by the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services as a medical condition caused by a hormonal imbalance and metabolism problems that may affect their overall health and appearance.  Symptoms include an irregular menstrual cycle, an excess in facial hair, acne, weight gain, darkening of the skin, and more.

According to the Resilient Sisterhood Project, research highlights that up to  75% of women with PCOS do not receive a diagnosis for their condition and PCOS affects Black women disproportionately than others and more severely.

Keke Palmer openly discussed her PCOS in 2020, revealing her struggle with frustrating acne, writing “Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome has been attacking me from the inside out my entire life and I had no idea.”

In 2023, Palmer updated her journey sharing how her pregnancy helped clear up the blemishes.
