Victoria Beckham Reflects on Career Evolution Ahead of 50th Birthday: 'You Can Be Many Things'

The designer says the milestone birthday is “the beginning of an exciting new chapter”

Victoria Beckham is embracing a new decade with open arms.

The Spice Girls alum turned designer, who turns 50 on Wednesday, April 17, took a moment to reflect on her life, family and career achievements in a heartfelt Instagram message shared on Tuesday, April 16.

“As I get ready to step into 50 (in heels, of course!), I feel so incredibly blessed to have reached this milestone,” she begins in the caption. “Blessed, but also accomplished and deeply content. Not just of where I am as a woman, but of how far my fashion and beauty brands have come. My ambition was always to empower women and make them feel like the best version of themselves. To me, that meant trusting my instinct and never compromising on my creative vision.”

Following her turn as Posh Spice in the 1990s girl group Spice Girls, Beckham went on to launch an eponymous fashion label, Victoria by Victoria Beckham, in September 2008. In September 2019, she made her foray into beauty with her own brand Victoria Beckham Beauty.

In her birthday message, Beckham says her career pivots have sprung from her desire to “dream big.”

“I believe that you can be many things,” she continues. “A pop star, a mother, a wife, a designer… My passion has always been to dream big, then dream even bigger! Believe in yourself first — everyone else will follow.”

The mogul also shouted out her husband, former soccer star David Beckham, for his support throughout their 25 years of marriage, as well as their four children.

“And if you’re really lucky, you’ll find someone who believes in you even more than you do,” Beckham writes. “@DavidBeckham, I’m forever grateful for your unconditional love and support, and for our beautiful children. @BrooklynPeltzBeckham, @RomeoBeckham, @CruzBeckham, #HarperSeven, you complete me. I’m so proud, so in awe of the kind, hard-working, talented individuals you are all becoming.”

Beckham ends the post by teasing exciting projects to come.

“This is the beginning of an exciting new chapter, and I’m only just getting started,” she says.

The star didn’t share exactly what she has cooking, but she’ll likely continue to expand her fashion and beauty brands. Earlier this month, she shared a smokey eye tutorial using one of Victoria Beckham Beauty’s most popular products — and her personal “all-time favorite” — Satin Kajal Liner.

According to the April 6 post, one Satin Kajal Liner is sold every 30 seconds.
