Veterans Day is Thursday, Nov. 11, and to thank active and former military members, many restaurants and stores in Davidson County will offer free meals and other deals to commemorate the holiday.

Here's a look at some of the deals offered this year. Note that most offers require that you present a military ID or proof of service.

Applebee's: Free entree (dine-in only) from a select menu, as well as a $5 "bounce back" card to redeem for dine-in, to-go or delivery within three weeks.

Cracker Barrel: Free slice of Double Chocolate Fudge Coca Cola Cake with in-store or online purchase. Use promo code "VETSDAY21" online.

Denny's: Free Build Your Own Grand Slam breakfast from 5 a.m. to noon. Offer valid for dine-in only.

Dollar General: The discount store chain offering a 20% discount in recognition of Veterans Day to all veterans, active-duty military, National Guard, Reserve and their families on qualifying in-store purchases from Nov. 11 through Nov. 14, 2021. In addition, a discount is offered the other 11 months of the year on the second Wednesday of each month for 11% off.

Food Lion: The supermarket is offering 10% off your entire shopping basket. Customers must request the discount and show their military ID and use their personal Food Lion MVP card in order to receive 10% off their order at the cash register. Offer excludes alcohol (beer and wine), tobacco, gift cards, lottery, pharmacy, postage stamps and services.

Great Clips: Military personnel and veterans with valid ID can get a free Great Clips haircut on Veterans Day or a coupon to use for a free cut on a future visit.

Little Caesars: Free four-slice DEEP!DEEP! Dish pizza and 20-ounce Pepsi product lunch combo. Offer valid from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in-store only.

Sheetz: Free turkey or ham sub, regular fountain drink and car wash (where available.) Offer valid at all 635 Sheetz locations all day on Nov. 11.

Starbucks: Free tall (12-ounce) hot brewed coffee for veterans, military service members and military spouses. Starbucks is also donating 25 cents for every cup of hot brewed coffee sold nationwide on November 11 to military nonprofits Headstrong and Team Red, White & Blue.

Wendy's: Free breakfast sandwich combo. Offer valid from 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

Zaxby's: Free Signature Sandwich meal.
